What We Do

Global Voices Theatre showcases international theatre in translation and from the wider English-speaking world to artists and audiences in the UK and abroad through uniquely curated events.

Our mission statement is:

  • To amplify global underrepresented voices in inclusive, innovative and intersectional ways
  • To catalyse discussion and action about current issues and the role of the arts within global debate and an increasingly globalised society
  • To act as a bridge in disrupting, dismantling, and decolonising text and performance across boundaries
  • To connect, celebrate, and co-create with artists and partners using sustainable practices and foster a global community

Through our model of rehearsed reading events, locally based creatives come together to perform texts from their wider, global community. By accessing and reflecting on texts in translation and from the wider English-speaking world, UK audiences engage with a world beyond the local.

In a world where it is increasingly radical to be international, we believe it is vital to create spaces for otherwise underrepresented voices and to look outwards at a global artistic community.
